The Ministry of Development and the Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC) Construction which is a committee under the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) in collaboration with the MPEC Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office and JobCentre Brunei is organizing a Construction Industry’s dual events – Construction Industry Job Marketplace 2.0 and ARMECS Bridging Program Interview Session on Saturday and Sunday, 27th and 28th February 2021  from 9.00 am until 4.00 pm at the Ministry of Development Headquarters Building, Airport Lama Berakas.


The MISC Construction was established under MPEC in an effort to enhance locals’ employability and to ensure local jobseekers and graduates acquire relevant skills and competencies within the construction industry.

 

The MISC Construction has identified Top 11 (eleven) critical occupations in the construction industry. With the right plan and strategies, these occupations can be filled in by local jobseekers. The occupations are:

(i)        Resident Technical Officer (RTOf)

(ii)       Clerk of Works (CoW)

(iii)      Company Site Representative (CSRep)

(iv)      Draughtsperson

(v)       HSE Officer

(vi)      Heavy Goods Vehicle’s (HGV) driver

(vii)     Carpenter

(viii)    Scaffolder for Construction

(ix)      Building Electrician

(x)       Air Conditioning Technician and

(xi)      Plumber / Pipe Fitter


The upcoming Construction Industry Job Marketplace 2.0 is a place for graduates and jobseekers to take the opportunity to interact with potential employers in the construction industry. The jobseekers will also have an opportunity to drop their CVs for job vacancies offered by the participating construction companies.

 

ARMECS which stands for Architect – Mechanical & Electrical – Civil & Structural is one of and the first MISC Construction’s plan and strategies that aims to ensure local graduates to be marketable and employable.


Through the i-Ready Apprenticeship Programme ARMECS Trainees are required to undergo a 6 months’ ARMECS Bridging Program at designated consulting firms registered with Board of Architects, Professional Engineers & Quantity Surveyors (BAPEQS). After completing their bridging program, they will then continue their apprenticeship as i-Ready Apprentices at the designated host organization within the Construction Industry.
